NBA, FIFA Among PlayStation’s 2021 Most Downloaded Games

Sony has just released the PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2021 on PlayStation.Blog.

The published lists are split across PS5, PS4, PSVR and Free-to-Play games, as well as across the US/Canada and EU regions. Overall, there is a heavy representation of online multiplayer games, with sports and shooting games doing particularly well. NBA 2K22 and FIFA 22 topped the PS5 games list in the US/Canada and EU region respectively. FIFA 22 also topped the PS4 games chart in the EU whereas GTA V topped in the US/Canada.

PlayStation first-party games did not sell as well, but that might be due to how few there are especially for PlayStation 5. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales represents the first PlayStation Studios game, listed at 3rd and 4th, respectively.

When it comes to PS VR games, Beat Saber, Job Simulator, and SUPERHOT VR came in top 3 across regions. Fortnite, Warzone, and Rocket League also came in top 3 in free-to-play games across regions as well, although Rocket League and Warzone were swapped 2-3 between regions.

Some might be surprised to know that Among Us reached as high as 6th, given the game only released on PlayStation December 14th. Similarly, Fall Guys made a splash on consoles even though its peak popularity was in 2020.
